The Central Joint Fire District is committed to providing high-quality training opportunities for its members as well as Fire and EMS personnel throughout Northwest Ohio. In partnership with Vanguard-Sentinel Adult Career and Technology Centers, department instructors deliver a variety of fire and EMS courses at the district’s training facility located at 13179 Mermill Road in Portage.
The department provides EMS Continuing Education (CEU) training covering a wide range of emergency medical topics taught by certified department instructors.
Training opportunities offered through the district include:
Volunteer Firefighter (36 Hours)
Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certification
Firefighter Level I and Level I Transition Courses
American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
These programs are designed to meet State of Ohio certification requirements and applicable NFPA training standards while providing students with practical, hands-on experience, including live fire training where applicable. Through these educational opportunities, the Central Joint Fire District continues to strengthen emergency response capabilities within the department and across the region.
